Sacramento Bee: Let the taco trucks roll in Sacramento. And free the mobile vendors dishing out Indian chicken tikka, Korean short ribs and other scrumptious fare.
Because of ordinances that are too strict, Sacramento is missing out on the latest foodie craze, while cramping the style of local entrepreneurs when the city should be doing all it can to encourage homegrown businesses.
That's a recipe for changing the rules to allow more food trucks and to let them stay open later; there's certainly room for more than the 87 authorized this year.
Mayor Kevin Johnson and Councilman Ray Tretheway are lobbying for easing the regulations. The rest of the City Council ought to get on board.
