Homebuilder will pay flood insurance for Natomas houses built under improper permits

Published: 1 years 192 days ago

Sacramento Bee:  The nine homeowners whose houses were built in the North Natomas flood zone last year under improper permits will have their flood insurance paid by the homebuilder, the city announced Tuesday.

The action is one of three steps the city and building officials are taking to please federal flood regulators after it was discovered that 35 new home permits were issued in Natomas in violation of a building ban in place while levees in the area are updated.

Mayor Kevin Johnson said the city has made "significant progress" in its talks with the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
