Mayor: Westfield in talks with 2 potential Downtown Plaza buyers

Published: 1 years 327 days ago

KCRA.com:  Sacramento Mayor Kevin Johnson told KCRA 3 on Tuesday that Westfield Corporation is in discussions with two potential buyers for Westfield Downtown Plaza.

"We really believe that in the next few months, if they can come to some sort of agreement, it could be a win-win," Johnson said in an exclusive interview. "It could be a win for Westfield because they're unloading an asset that they haven't invested in heavily. It could be a win for the new buyer, and most importantly it could be a win for the city and all the tenants and retailers that are a part of that Westfield mall."

"We've identified a highly qualified potential buyer that is now in serious discussions with Westfield," he said. "They have the capacity and capability of doing something at a very large scale. And there's also another group that's also having not quite as serious discussions, but discussions with the Westfield group as well."
