Sacramento Bee: An investigation into how 35 home permits were improperly issued in the Natomas flood zone last year has raised questions among Sacramento City Council members about the overall operation of the city's building department. At his weekly press conference Tuesday, Mayor Kevin Johnson said "he'd like to think that a lot of (the issues raised by investigators) will end up unfounded."
Still, he too seemed to be growing frustrated with a recent spate of scandals involving the city's building and utilities departments.
"I think we're having far too many of these issues," he said. "It's not a freak or aberration that this happened. There seems to be a pattern of either mismanagement or poor judgment, and what it does is it creates a sense of cynicism and lack of trust with the public."
