It’s a monumental day for the city of Sacramento. The City Council will convene a Special Session today at 11:30 a.m. to receive the Sacramento First Task Force recommendations on a new entertainment and sports complex. The Task Force, a group of citizen volunteers, has contributed more than 900 hours while compiling the recommendations. They are experts in their fields, and if they billed for their time, the price would conservatively exceed $250,000.
In four months, the Task Force built a spirit to carry Sacramento forward as the city looks to replace Arco Arena with a world-class cultural center.
You can find that spirit in the Rules of the Game, which Mayor Kevin Johnson announced last October:
1, Taxpayers come first; 2, The city will not be used as leverage; 3, We will negotiate on even terms; and 4, We must think in and out of the box.
The public is invited to the Special Session meeting Thursday, March 11, in Council Chambers at 11:30 a.m.
